The Great Flood of 1970 describes the events that happened in SimYard during the 1970 Season (February 2014 in real time).
On February 1, 2014 database errors would lead to a full suspension of park play on an indefinite basis. This action was taken to preserve league play and help leagues run as best as they could. However, the database went down unexpectedly for a few hours on February 11. The database was restored, however a fatal error occurred just two days later on February 13 and Erick had no alternative but to shut the site down.
As a result of this catastrophic event, all fields became unplayable, all leagues were forced to halt play and were shuttered resulting in no championships being awarded, and all players that were active during that time were killed in a flood of biblical proportions. These floods would persist for decades.
League name change
- The Bridge & Reserve League was renamed the All Pro Scrub League
|Leagues Formed||Leagues Disbanded|
|Eastern-Independent League (Major)|
- There were no champions for 1970 due to an unrecoverable database error forcing SimYard to shut down permanently.
The Waters Recede
In 2031, the waters finally receded and the land started to dry out. This process took three years before fields were deemed to be in playable shape. In late 2034, Erick deemed the park playable and park play resumed with a brief one month park season.
